EMT STUDY GUIDE
EMT study guide organized around five domains.
Use the five exam domains to organize your study. Read a concept, practice its application, and use explanations to locate the gap in your reasoning.
DOMAIN 01
Scene Size-Up and Safety
Begin before patient contact. Identify hazards, decide what resources are needed, and protect the people providing care.

Primary Assessment
Organize your first impressions around immediate threats. Practice recognizing when findings should change your priorities.

Secondary Assessment
Turn a focused history and examination into useful information. Compare new findings with the baseline and the patient’s changing condition.

Patient Treatment and Transport
Connect the assessment to the next EMT-level action. Reassess the effect of treatment and consider the transport plan.

Operations
Practice the decisions that support safe, coordinated care: communication, documentation, resource use and professional responsibilities.
Read and practice →A study routine you can repeat
Begin with a domain you find difficult. Write down the learning objective and identify the decision each scenario asks you to make. After a question, compare your reasoning with both the correct-answer explanation and the alternatives. A correct guess deserves review just as much as an incorrect answer.
Return to source references when an explanation raises a clinical question. Practice questions help organize learning; they do not replace your course, skills training or local protocols.
